Golda Beckstead
Golda Beckstead, a lifetime resident of the
Morrisburg area, died on Mon., Aug. 19, 2002 at the Winchester
District Memorial Hospital. She was 76.
She was the beloved wife of the late John Beckstead (1990), whom
she married on Nov. 28, 1945 in Heckston United Church. She was
the loving mother of Arnold of Prescott, Carman (Eva) of Brockville,
Carl of Brockville, Retha (Leonard) McConville of Hamilton, Kelvin
(Faye) of Prescott and Gary at home. She will be fondly remembered
by 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Dear sister of Sam (Marie) Cowan of Prescott, Muriel (Ron) Molton
of Lyndhurst, Doris Rupert of Prescott, Yvonne Cowan of Morrisburg
and Eileen (Ted) Hunter of Domville. Also survived by many nieces
and nephews. Predeceased by son Robert and brothers Keith and
Orval Cowan.
Mrs. Beckstead was born on Sept. 17, 1925 in Matilda Township
to the late James and Elsie May Cowan (nee Wallace).
She was a faithful and dedicated member of the Community Family
Church of Iroquois. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother
who loved cooking and baking.
Donations to the Winchester District Memorial Hospital would be
appreciated by the family. Funeral service was held at Marsden
and McLaughlin Funeral Home, Iroquois on Thurs., Aug. 22 with
Pastor Leavitt and Pastor Gogolin officiating. Interment at Dundela
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kevin Hunter, Evan Cowan, John Sabourin, Lorne
Strader, Bert Smail and Brian Rupert.
