Doris Hill
Doris Hill died on Nov. 2, 2002
at Winchester District Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness.
She was 85.
She was the daughter of Pearl (nee Robinson) and Wilbert Strader,
and was a lifetime resident of the Williamsburg area. She first
married the late Gordon Christie. She later married the late Jack
Hill.
Mrs. Hill worked as a postal clerk at the Williamsburg Post Office
for several years. She was a member of the Williamsburg United
Church, serving as Sunday school superintendent and a member of
the choir for many years. She also belonged to the United Church
Women and the Women's Institute.
She is survived by children Lynn (Roger) Gilmour of Dixon's Corners,
Shaler (Cindy) of Morrisburg and Jack of Williamsburg; brother
Mahlon (Norma) Strader of Williamsburg; and sister Audrey (Bill)
Casselman of Williamsburg. She was sister-in-law of Gertrude Strader
of Morrisburg. She will be fondly remembered by granddaughters
Tammy Gilmour, Janice Gilmour and Whitney Hill.
She is predeceased by grandson Jason Hill, sister Ruth Hogaboam
and brother Lyell "Sib" Strader.
She loved to play cards and go to euchre parties. She liked to
dine out and she loved to bake, especially when she was making
chocolate chip cookies for her grandchildren. She enjoyed cottage
life and going on bus trips, and she always looked forward to
family gatherings.
Friends called at Marsden and Mclaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg
on Nov. 4. Funeral was held at Williamsburg United Church on Nov.
5 with Rev. Sandy Macpherson officiating. Interment was at Maple
Ridge Cemetery, Chesterville.
Pallbearers were Gordon Garlough, David Carkner, Ray Casselman,
Dwain Hess, Graham Garlough and Clair Empey.
