Bernie Lafontaine
Bernie Lafontaine of Williamsburg died suddenly
at Winchester District Memorial Hospital on Nov. 5, 2002. He was
61.
He was born on Feb. 26, 1941 in Ottawa. He worked as a stationary
engineer with the RCMP until he retired in 1995. He was raised
in Ottawa and lived there until 1987 when he moved to the Morrisburg
area.
Mr. Lafontaine was the loving companion of Muriel McLean. His
parents were the late Rene Lafontaine and Helena (nee Monahan).
He is survived by children John (Donna), Shannon and Sarah, all
of Ottawa. He is also survived by brothers and sisters: Rene (Marge)
of Johnstown, George of Montreal, Ed (Debbie) of Morrisburg, Rich
(Mado) of Prescott, Phil (Sonya) of Prescott, Gloria Levere of
Cardinal, Audrey (Eldon) Strong of Nova Scotia, Vera Smith of
Ottawa and Joan (Gerry) Pollex of Ottawa.
He will be fondly remembered by grandchildren Scott, Todd and
Anick Lafontaine. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was an avid outdoorsman who had a keen interest in hunting,
trapping, fishing and wildlife.
Friends called at Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg
on Nov. 8. Funeral was at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in
Morrisburg on Nov. 9 with Father Arikat officiating. Interment
was at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Mariatown.
Pallbearers were Larry Roe, Phil Lafontaine, Steve Pollex, Nelson
McCooeye, Darren Montgomery and George Lafontaine.
