Annie Longfield

Annie Longfield of Williamsburg died at home on Sept. 16, 2002. She was 102.
She was born on Feb. 4, 1900 in Lancashire, England to the late Sarah (nee Rawlingson) and Ernest Schofield.
Mrs. Longfield married the late Joe Longfield on Oct. 20, 1926 in Oldham, Lancashire, England. She is survived by children Phyllis Clark of Williamsburg and Fred (Joan) Longfield of England.
She was born and raised in Lancashire. She immigrated to Canada in 1957 and settled in Ottawa. She lived there for 25 years before moving to Linden, Nova Scotia in 1982. She lived in Nova Scotia for six years before finally moving to Williamsburg in 1988.
She was primarily a homemaker; however, in her younger years she worked at cotton mills in Lancashire and she also worked in her uncle's butcher shop during the First World War.
Mrs. Longfield was predeceased by sisters Jane and Ada; and sons-in-law Gordon Moore and George Clark who were both like sons to her.
She will be fondly remembered by her Canadian grandchildren Aubrey (Jane), Carol (Jim), Angela (Jim), Ian (Lynne); and Canadian great-grandchildren Andrea and Eric Halden, Andrew and Molly Graves; and Jason, Janoe and Jacy Moore.
She is survived by grandchildren Diane, Barry, Kevin and several great-grandchildren who live in England. She is also survived by nephew Ken Rowe of England.
A celebration of her life was held at Williamsburg United Church on Sat., Sept. 21.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home. Donations to Winchester District Memorial Hospital or Dundas County Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
