Viola Sara Marchand
Viola Sara Marchand died at Wellington House
in Prescott on Sept. 19, 2002 at the age of 103.
She was the wife of Roger Marchand who died before her in 1975.
The couple was married in Montreal on Sept. 3, 1931.
Mrs. Marchand was born in Fontnelle, Gaspé, Quebec on July
18, 1899 to the late Pauldore and Mary Stanley. She is survived
by children Muriel Black of Philipsburg, Quebec; Gladys Gates
of Prescott; and Gordon "Sonny" (Sylvia) Marchand of
Spencerville. She was predeceased by Joseph Marchand.
She will be sadly missed by 14 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren
and five great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother
Ivan Stanley of Gaspé and sister Hillary of Quebec. She
was predeceased by four sisters and three brothers.
Mrs. Marchand was a housewife and homemaker. She lived at Wellington
House for the previous six years. She was a member of St. Peter's
Anglican Church in South Mountain.
Her funeral was held at Byers Funeral Home Chapel at 10 am on
Sept. 21, with cremation officiated by Rev. Brian Cauk. Pallbearers
were Leonard Marchand, Reggie Marchand, Kevin Davidson, Gary Gates,
Randy Gates and Allan Gates.
