Evelyn Morrison
Evelyn Morrison (nee Phair), a resident of
the Township of Osgoode Care Centre, Metcalfe, passed away on
Fri., June 21, 2002 in her 85th year.
Mrs. Morrison was born in Edwards on May 22, 1918, the daughter
of the late Robert and Christina Phair. Predeceased by her loving
husband Carman Morrison.
She was the cherished mother of Lillian (Bill Empey) of Brockville,
Bruce (Pat) of Edmonton, John of Winchester, Beryl Barclay (Herb
Weckwerth) of Almonte, Darlyene Sheldrick (Stirling Carson) of
Vernon and Janet (Ross Lowe) of Edwards. She was a loving grandma
to 17 and great-grandma to 17.
Mrs. Morrison was predeceased by brothers Cameron and Frank Phair
and sister Jean Hunt. She was a homemaker, mother, foster mother
of three and farmer, helping out her husband on their farm, west
of Vernon. She worked at the Ottawa Civic Hospital for a while,
until baby number six came along. Mrs. Morrison was a sales representative
for Avon in the Vernon area for many years. She was a long-time
member of the Women's Institute and the Baptist Church ladies
in Vernon.
In 1971 Mrs. Morrison and her husband Carman retired to a new
home in Metcalfe, where Mrs. Morrison pursued her great love of
crafts. She made many afghans and needlepoints for her family.
The funeral service was held on Tues., June 25 in the chapel at
Duncan's Funeral Home, with Rev. Rich Gledhill officiating. Interment
at Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandsons Dean Empey, Bill Empey, Allen Barclay,
Peter Barclay, Daryl Sheldrick and nephew Reg Morrison. Honorary
pallbearers were granddaughters Amanda Lowe and Ashley Lowe, and
great-granddaughter Deana Empey.
Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes
Association would be most appreciated.
