H. Rae Myers
H. Rae Myers passed away peacefully into rest,
surrounded by family, on Fri., April 26, 2002 in his 77th year.
Mr. Myers was the loving husband of the late Catherine Mae Myers
(nee MacKenzie). He was a wonderful father to Linda Brouillette
(Dave) of Bracebridge, Janet Williams (Erik) of Toronto and Gordon
Myers (Gulriz Barkin) of Vancouver, B.C. He was a very special
Grandpa to Neil Williams and Ceylan and Ceren Myers.
He was predeceased by his parents, James and Grace Myers, brothers
Eric, Stewart and John, and sisters Alice Merkley and Pearl Link.
He is fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, relatives
and friends.
Mr. Myers was born on a farm in Grantley, Ontario on June 18,
1925. The farm had been in the Myers family for several generations
and he took great satisfaction later in life when he was able
to buy the farm and introduce his family to the property.
Mr. Myers proudly served as a navigator in the Second World War
over the Pacific. His war service allowed him to attend the University
of Toronto where he graduated as a metallurgical engineer. During
his post-graduation employment with Inco in Sudbury, he met Catherine
and they married in 1950. He gained employment with the Patent
Office in Ottawa in 1952 and worked there until his retirement.
Shortly after retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Myers moved to Morrisburg.
This brought Mr. Myers back to the area of Ontario he loved.
He had many interests and hobbies, including geneology, history,
music, gardening, reading, bog-trotting and bird watching. He
had a great ability to pass on his knowledge to all he met.
Family and friends will be received for a memorial service at
Parker Funeral Home, Morrisburg on May 11 at 2 pm. Interment will
take place immediately following the service at Grantley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Winchester District Memorial
Hospital would be appreciated.
