John "Jack" Notman
A resident of Morrisburg for over 50 years,
John "Jack" Notman passed away at the Winchester District
Memorial Hospital on Sat., June 29, 2002 at the age of 79.
Mr. Notman was the loving husband of the late Jean Notman (nee
Stubbs) and the dear father of Jack (Joanne) of Mariatown and
Jim (Donna) of RR 1 Morrisburg. He will be sadly missed by grandchildren
Brad, Jaime, Bartt and Jenna Notman, and by many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother George and a sister Violet Bessant.
The love of his wife, Jean, brought him to Morrisburg and the
love of the community kept him there. Whether your memories of
Mr. Notman go back to the RCAF in the Second World War, or are
of him as the owner of Notman's Fina in the "old town"
of Morrisburg, or Notman's Shell in the "new Morrisburg",
everyone's memories of him are special. Perhaps some recall Mr.
Notman from his time working at Rohm and Haas or his years at
the St. Lawrence Parks Commission - all memories to cherish as
the family urges those who knew Mr. Notman to relive their memories
and celebrate his life.
Respecting his wishes for privacy, there was no formal wake or
funeral service, rather a quiet private family gathering was held,
followed by interment of cremated remains at St. Lawrence Valley
Union Cemetery, Long Sault. The family would appreciate any donations
made in Mr. Notman's memory to the Winchester District Memorial
Hospital. Arrangements were entrusted to the Marsden and McLaughlin
Funeral Home, Williamsburg.
