Muriel Dorene Whitford

Muriel Dorene Whitford of Kanata died on Mon., April 15, 2002 at her residence, after a six-month illness. She was 81.
She was the beloved wife of Arnold Whitford, whom she married in Toronto on Sept. 24, 1951. She was born on Feb. 13, 1921 in Elmvale, Ontario to the late John Henry Langman and Beatrice Barbara Cee.
She was a dear sister of John Langman of Mississauga. She will be dearly missed by daughters Donna Ham Pong and Elaine Whitford, and sons-in-law Antony Ham Pong and Donald Morrissette. She was the very proud grandmother of Ashley, Nadia and Tyler. She was also a half-sister to Lillian Spring of Elmvale, the late Gordon Turner of Elmvale and the late Ray Turner of Darmouth.
Mrs. Whitford arrived in Williamsburg in 1959, where she and her husband farmed for 20 years. In 1979 they moved to Morrisburg where they resided for 14 years. In 1993 they moved to Ottawa and then to Forest Hill, Kanata 11 months ago.
Her first concerns were always for her family and keeping in touch. She loved to cook. Her green thumb was evident, especially for her African violets.
Mrs. Whitford took every opportunity to live life to the fullest, enjoying travelling near and far, reading, sewing, knitting and cooking. She was a skilled farming wife and a dedicated member of the United Church Women, participating at many church suppers.
Funeral service was celebrated on Fri., April 19 with Rev. Jean Udall officiating. Interment at St. Lawrence Valley Cemetery, Long Sault. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Parkinson's Society gratefully acknowledged by the family.
Pall bearers were Andy Bowers, Lloyd Hayes, Edgar Yes, grandson Tyler Ham Pong and sons-in-law Antony Ham Pong and Don Morrissette.
