Ray Adams
Ray Adams of Brinston died suddenly
at home on March 17, 2003. He was 75.
He was born in Matilda Township on Jan. 8, 1928 to the late Ralph
Adams and Amelia (nee Williams).
He was predeceased by wife Jean Adams (nee McIntosh), whom he
married in March of 1947 in Iroquois.
He is survived by children Lana Barkley (Henry Simzer) of Hanesville,
and Almon of Brinston. He was predeceased by son Lee, and daughter
Eleanor Francis.
Mr. Adams will be fondly remembered by grandchildren Rob Barkley,
Heather McAuley, Janet Adams, Jeff Adams, Stacy Adams, and great-granddaughter
Chloe. He is survived by daughter-in-law Bonnie Adams of Brinston,
as well as by nieces and nephews.
He had several jobs during his lifetime, including farming, working
as a laborer at the Prescott grain elevator, working at the Belhaven
Sod Farm, doing carpentry work, and auctioneering. In his early
years, he trained standard bred horses and raced them at the Rideau
Carleton Raceway, and at local fairs. He enjoyed hunting and will
be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg
on March 19. The funeral was at the funeral home on March 20 with
Rev. Yvonne Willis officiating. Spring interment will be at Spruce
Haven Cemetery in Brinston.
Pallbearers were Brian Montgomery, Rob Barkley, Jeff Adams, Art
Elliott, David Millward and Orval Millward.
Donations to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated
by the family.
