Ethan Algire
Ethan Algire died on July 19, 2003
at Winchester District Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
He was 88.
He was born in Williamsburg Township on Sept. 6, 1914 to the late
Annie (nee Whitteker) and Edgar Algire. He was a lifetime resident
of the Williamsburg area where he worked as a farmer. He spent
the previous year living at Dundas Manor Nursing Home in Winchester.
He is survived by brother Clair (Ruth) of Williamsburg. He was
predeceased by siblings Grant, Maxine Bell and Ellen Garlough.
He will be fondly remember by nieces Ann (Bob) Chick, and Sharron
(Glenn) McDonell; nephews Dr. Jim (Jane) Algire, Russell (Ann)
Garlough, and Edgar (Joanne) Bell, Allan Bell; and several great-nieces
and great-nephews.
He enjoyed visiting with neighbors and especially enjoyed family
gatherings for birthdays and other celebrations. He was a member
of the Williamsburg United Church where he served as secretary/treasurer
for 31 years from 1935-1966.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg
on July 21. The funeral was held at Williamsburg United Church
on July 22, with Rev. Yvonne Willis officiating. Interment was
at new Union Cemetery in Williamsburg.
The pallbearers were Ralph Barkley, Randy McIntosh, Dale Whittaker,
Doug Whitteker, Gordon Garlough and John Byvelds.
Donations to the Williamsburg United Church would be appreciated
by the family.
