Hartley Allison
Hartley Allison died at home in Morrisburg
on Sept. 7, 2003 following a brief illness. He was 80.
He was born in Winchester Springs on July 28, 1923 to the late
Fred Allison and Mabel (nee Shaver).
He is survived by wife Elizabeth "Betty" Stewart. He
was predeceased by his first wife, Doris McKenzie.
A lifetime resident of the area, he worked for the St. Lawrence
Seaway Authority for many years. He was a charter member of the
Royal Canadian Legion Branch #538 in Boucks Hill for over 50 years.
He was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force, having served
in Nova Scotia during the Second World War from 1941 to 1945.
Mr. Allison was a former member of the Williamsburg Masonic Lodge
#480. He attended Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Riverside Heights.
He lived at the Hills Trailer Park in Morrisburg for the previous
15 years.
He will be remembered by children Anne Fournier (Lee Crozier)
of Russell and Michael (Beverley) of Sayward, B.C.
He is survived by brother Ritchie (Helen) of Brockville. He was
predeceased by sister Luella Smith.
He will be fondly remembered by Gordon, Sharon and Robert Stewart.
In his earlier years, he enjoyed fishing, playing bingo, gardening
and woodworking.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg
on Sept. 9 and 10. The funeral was at the funeral home on Sept
10, officiated by Rev. Bill Byers and Rev. Pat Martin. Interment
of cremated remains was at St. Lawrence Valley Union Cemetery
in Long Sault.
Donations to Winchester District Memorial Hospital would be appreciated
by the family.
