Maxine Baldwin
Maxine Baldwin died at the Wellington
House Nursing Home on June 30, 2003. She was 79.
She was born in Mountain Township on Aug. 10, 1923 to the late
James Leonard Bell and Jessie (nee McKercher). She married Dwight
Baldwin at her family home in Inkerman Station on Sept. 25, 1943.
He died on April 20, 1999.
She was office manager at the Winchester Press from 1958 to 1981.
She was part owner and office manager at Winchester Print from
1981 to 1990 when she retired.
Mrs. Baldwin was born and raised in the Inkerman area. In 1996
she moved to the Hartford Home in Morrisburg where she resided
until July 2002 when health problems forced her to move first
to Winchester District Memorial Hospital, then to St. Lawrence
Lodge in Brockville, and finally to Wellington House. She was
a member of the Inkerman United Church.
She will be remembered by children Lynda (Les) Barkley of Iroquois
and Gordon Hanson of Toronto. She is survived by sisters June
(Sherman) Hoy of Hallville and Joan Ponting of Ottawa. She was
predeceased by siblings Jean Volks, Betty Baker, Orland "Steve"
Bell, Lester Bell, George "Sam" Bell and Ralph Bell.
She was loving grandmother of Kevin Barkley of Iroquois and great-grandmother
of Kyle. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Friends called at Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Iroquois
on July 2. The funeral was held the same day at the funeral home
with Rev. Doug Carnegie officiating. Interment was at Knight's
Cemetery in Inkerman.
Pallbearers were Kevin Barkley, Les Barkley, Jimmy Baker and Gordon
Hanson. Donations to Winchester District Memorial Hospital would
be appreciated by the family.
