Olive Barkley
Olive Barkley died at Dundas Manor nursing home
in Winchester on Nov. 24, 2003. She was 89.
She was born in the former Williamsburg Township on April 8, 1914
to the late Flo (nee Whitteker) and Bernice McIntosh.
She was wife of the late Reginald Barkley, whom she married on
July 20, 1940 at the Williamsburg United Church manse.
She worked as a school teacher. She enjoyed teaching, and working
with her husband in managing the Williamsburg Hydro books.
A lifetime resident of the Williamsburg area, she had moved to
Dundas Manor six months earlier.
She is survived by sister Gladys Kyle of Williamsburg. She was
predeceased by brother Harold; brothers-in-law Don Kyle, and Egerton
Barkley (Helen); and sisters-in-law Helen Smith (Harold), and
Hilda McMartin-McDermid (Don McMartin and Callum McDermid)
She will be fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews. She
was sister-in-law of Jean McIntosh of Morrisburg.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg
on Nov. 26. The funeral was at the funeral home on Nov. 27 with
Rev. Sandy Macpherson officiating. Interment was at New Union
Cemetery in Williamsburg.
Pallbearers were Ralph Smith, Neil McMartin, Doug Miltimore, Bill
Lang, Robert Barkley and Gregg Miltimore.
