Robert Gerald Barton
Robert Gerald Barton died peacefully
at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital on Jan. 24, 2003, at the age
of 57.
He was born in Kingston on Dec. 12, 1945. He was the son of the
late Dr. Gerald and Betty Barton (nee Baker) of Winchester.
Mr. Barton was the beloved husband of Carolina Espinosa-Barton
of Nepean. He was loving father to Kim (Allen Pajtasz) of St.
Catharines and Sherri (Jamie Clarmo) of Metcalfe.
He will be sadly missed by grandchildren James, Amanda, and Tyler
of St. Catharines; and Steven and Theresa of Metcalfe. He is survived
by sister Elizabeth of Winchester, and predeceased by brother
Peter (Paula) of Claremont.
He will be fondly remembered by good friend Betty-Anne of Osgoode,
as well as by many nieces and nephews. The family would like to
extend a special thanks to the nursing staff at the Queensway-Carleton
Hospital, in particular their nurse named Dean.
He grew up in Winchester and was in the last graduating class
from Winchester High School. He played cornet in the high school
cadet band and participated in Sunday night family concerts with
Peter and Elizabeth on the piano, Mom on the violin and Dad on
the accordion.
He decided to go into health care after the illness and death
of his brother Peter in 1990. He graduated as a registered practical
nurse from Algonquin College in 1990, was employed with St. Elizabeth
Health Care Agency in Ottawa, and was a member of the College
of Nurses of Ontario.
He enjoyed his train sets, soap box cars, sports cars, games of
pool and his fishing. He will be missed by family and friends.
The funeral service was held in the chapel of the Winchester Funeral
Home on Jan. 28, with Rev. Carol Poley-Delisle officiating. Burial
was followed at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville.
