Bernard Brunt
Bernard Brunt of Williamsburg died
suddenly on Oct. 9, 2003 at Winchester District Memorial Hospital.
He was 76.
He is survived by wife Elizabeth Brunt (nee Heckman) whom he married
in Montreal on Feb. 9, 1952.
He was born in Montreal on June 4, 1927 to the late Archibald
Brunt and Alice (nee McMahon).
He was raised in Montreal and attended McDonald College in Montreal
following his marriage. He and Alice bought a farm just west of
Williamsburg and lived there for 51 years. He worked as a dairy
farmer.
He was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Morrisburg.
He was presented with an honorary life membership from the Morrisburg
Curling Club in recognition of his long years of service to the
club as a curler, a builder, as president, and as an inspiration
to his fellow curlers.
He will be remembered by children Allan (Sandra) of Williamsburg,
Beverley (Bob) Paris of Carlsbad Springs, Peter (Brenda) of Williamsburg,
and Doug (Mary) of Ottawa.
He is survived by siblings Loyal (Joan) of Morrisburg, and Ruth
Hughes of London. He was predeceased by siblings Rita, Ken and
William.
In his earlier years, he excelled at paddling. As a member of
the Carrierville Boating Club, he was a part of the team that
won the Double Blade Four category at the Canadian Canoeing Association's
Dominion Championships in 1949 and 1952. In his later years, he
enjoyed golfing at Cedar Glen with his friends.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg
on Oct. 12. The funeral took place at St. Mary's Roman Catholic
Church on Oct. 13, with Father Sebastien Arikat officiating. Interment
of cremated remains will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Morrisburg.
Pallbearers were Perry Brunt, Mark Brunt, Paul Brunt, Michael
Brunt, Byron Brunt and Tristan Brunt.
