Lloyd Eady
Lloyd Eady of Williamsburg died on Sept. 11,
2003 at Winchester District Memorial Hospital following a brief
illness. He was 84.
He is survived by wife Isabelle (nee Scherlynck) whom he married
on December 15, 1946 in Warneton, Belgium.
He was born in the Township of Hagarty and Richards, Ontario on
Aug. 16, 1919 to the late Stewart Eady and Beulah (nee Lett).
He worked in the maintenance department for the St. Lawrence Seaway
for 30 years before retiring in 1983. He had lived at the Park
Drive Villa in Williamsburg for the previous two years.
He was born and raised in the Eganville area. He served overseas
during the Second World War from 1941-1946, as a member of the
82nd Battery of the Fourth Anti-Tank Regiment, Royal Canadian
Armed Forces.
Upon returning to Canada, he and Isabelle settled in Kirkland
Lake where he worked in the gold mines. In 1953, they moved to
the Morrisburg area and they lived in the Morrisburg and Williamsburg
area for the past 50 years.
He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #538 in Boucks
Hill and a member of the Excelsior Masonic Lodge #142 in Morrisburg
for over 44 years, serving as district deputy-grand master in
1974.
He will be remembered by children Diane Hawes (Keith Hyndman)
of Ottawa, and Alan of Ottawa. He is survived by siblings Arthur
(Florence) of Ottawa, Betty Scharfe of Killaloe, Leah Carisse
of Ottawa and Keith (Irene) of Niagara Falls.
He was predeceased by infant daughter Lillian, and brothers Charles,
Eldon and Donald.
He was proud grandfather of Michael (Angie) Kelly of Iroquois
and Nyle (Melonea) Kelly of Ottawa. He was brother-in-law of Iva
Eady of Ottawa; Marion Eady of Newfane, New York; and Jean Matlock
of California. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and many
friends throughout the area.
In his earlier years, he enjoyed going to the family cottage at
Algonquin Park where his favorite activities were fishing and
canoeing.
There was no visitation or funeral service. Arrangements were
entrusted to the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral home in Williamsburg.
Donations to Winchester District Memorial Hospital would be appreciated
by the family.
