Lillian W. Empey
Funeral services were held Monday, November 3, 2003 for Lillian Empey of Abbott Street, Brockville. Lillian passed away Oct. 29, 2003 with her family by her side. She fought a losing battle with her illness, at home with her husband until almost the end.
She was born June 12, 1937 in Metcalfe, Ontario to Carman Morrison and the former Evelyn Phair, who have both predeceased her. Lillian was raised in the Vernon area, moving briefly with her family to St. Catharines then back to Vernon where she attended Belmead Elementary School, then Winchester High School. After her schooling she moved to Prescott to work at RCA where she met her husband Bill. She also worked at Cleveland Container and Hathaway Shirts.
After her marriage, 44 years ago, she moved to Brockville and raised her family on Abbott Street, returning to work after her children got a little older, working at Warks Drug Store, Woolco and WalMart until her death.
Her main interests were her family and especially her two grandchildren. She liked to knit, needlepoint and travel with her husband.
She leaves behind her husband William A., her two sons Dean A. (Johanne Couture), William M. (Jackie Northrup), her grandchildren Deana and Derrick Empey and their mother Debbie Empey. Also surviving are three sisters and two brothers, Bruce Morrison (Pat) of Edmonton, Beryl Barclay (Herb Weckworth) of Ottawa, Jack Morrison of Winchester, Darlyene Sheldrick (Sterling Carson) of Vernon and Janet Lowe (Ross) of Edwards and numerous nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
Friends called at the Barclay Funeral Home, Brockville, where the Memorial Services were conducted at 2 pm, November 3, 2003, by Pastor Laurence Croswell of the Centennial Standard Church. The eulogy was given by Debbie Empey with Lillians's granddaughter reading a poem for her. Interment was at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Maitland.
Pallbearers were nieces and nephews Kevin Empey, Claudine Empey Powers, Allen Barclay, Mike Lee, Jeff Lee, Rob Lee. The honorary pallbearers were Deana Empey and her niece Ashley Lowe.
