Lee Hummel
Lee Hummel of RR 1 Williamsburg died at Winchester District Memorial Hospital on Nov. 10, 2003. He was 76.
He was predeceased by wife Lois (nee Beakstead), whom he married in Williamsburg on June 24, 1950.
He was born in Winchester Springs on Jan. 18, 1927 to the late George Hummel and Annice (nee Froats). He was a lifetime resident of the area.
He worked as a dairy farmer. He was a member of the Williamsburg International Order of Oddfellows Lodge #349.
He will be remembered by children Bonnie (Barry) Szabo of Brockville and Barbara Tetzlaff (Jacques Major) of Orleans.
He is survived by siblings Lola Young of Winchester Springs, and Cassie (Cal) Dillabough of RR 1 Chesterville. He was predeceased by sister Lera Young; and brothers Myles, Bert and Earl.
He will be fondly remembered by granddaughters Carrie, Kelly and Alisa. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was dear brother-in-law of Doris (Don) Scobie of Brockville, Keith (Shirley) Beckstead of RR 1 Williamsburg, and Paul (Sandra) Beckstead of RR 1 Iroquois.
An avid card player, he looked forward to his Wednesday and Saturday night card games. In his earlier years, he delivered Meals-on-Wheels, canvassed for the Canadian Cancer Society, bowled in a five-pin mixed league in Chesterville, and loved to work in his shop.
Friends called at the Marsden and Mclaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg on Nov. 12. An Oddfellows service was held during the evening on Nov. 12. Funeral service was held at the funeral home on Nov. 13, with Rev. Mark Ehlebracht officiating. Interment was at New Union Cemetery in Williamsburg.
Pallbearers were Basil Young, Gerald Barkley, Ralph Barkley, Dwayne Hummel, Bill Hummel and Lyall Hodgson.
Donations to Winchester District Memorial Hospital, the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
