Lorne William Link
Lorne William Link of Toyes Hill died suddenly
at home on Feb. 26, 2003. He was 51.
He was son of the late Fred Link and Pearl (nee Myers), born on
March 14, 1951 in Winchester. He worked on the family farm at
Toyes Hill his entire life. After he sold the cattle in 1990,
he began working with race horses. At the time of his death he
owned five horses and was boarding another three at the farm.
Mr. Link is survived by loving companion Karen Wells; and siblings
Kathy Link of Toyes Hill, Marge (Larry) Summerfield of Dixon's
Corners, and Betty (Brian) Montpellier of Vancouver.
He will be fondly remembered by Robert (Crystal) Wells; Jeffrey
Wells; niece Julie (Brad) Sloan; nephews Dan (Pam) DeVries, Mark
DeVries, Ben Montpellier, Thomas Montpellier, and Josh Montpellier;
great-nephew Spencer Sloan; and great-nieces Paige Sloan and Hope
DeVries. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
The lifetime resident of Toyes Hill was a member of the Toyes
Hill broomball team and baseball team. He enjoyed both playing
sports and watching sports on TV. He was an avid Toronto Maple
Leafs fan. He was an animal lover and his dog Reba was his constant
companion.
Friends called at Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg
on March 2 and 3. The funeral was held at the funeral home on
March 3, officiated by Rev. Bob Williams. Spring interment of
cremated remains will be at Maple Ridge Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were Dan DeVries, Mark DeVries, Robert Wells,
Jeffrey Wells, Garry Simzer and Norm Tinkler.
Donations to the Winchester District Memorial Hospital or the
Winchester Springs United Church would be appreciated by the family.
