John Earl McLean
John Earl McLean of Winchester died on July
30, 2003 at Winchester District Memorial Hospital after a short
illness. He was 65.
He is survived by wife Joan (nee Thompson) whom he married in
Ormond on March 3, 1956.
He was born on Oct. 9, 1937 in Dundas County to the late James
Edward McLean and Jennie Isabella (nee Cumming). He lived at RR
1 Winchester all his life where he worked as a farmer, trucker
and cattle dealer.
He is survived by children Diane (Garry) Barkley and Bryan (Cathy);
and grandchildren Adam, Angela and Meghan Barkley. Also surviving
is brother Charles McLean of Metcalfe, as well as many nieces
and nephews. He was predeceased by son Angus; and siblings Gerald
and Agnes Lawrence.
He liked to hunt and fish. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
The funeral was held at Duncan Funeral Home in Metcalfe on Aug.
2 with Rev. Bruce North officiating. Interment was at Springhill
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Larry Allen, Robert Carkner, Tommy McLean, Ron
Skuce, Shaun Thompson and Robbin Welk. Honorary pallbearers were
George Oschmann and Ralph Preston.
