Art Milne
Art Milne passed away peacefully
and with great courage at Winchester District Memorial Hospital
on Oct. 3, 2003. He was 73.
He was born in Mountain on May 7, 1930 to the late Frank and Ruth
(nee Sansome) Milne. He was a supportive brother of Frank (Betty),
Allan (Shirl), Mary (Ralph Fawcett), Doug (Phyllis) and sister-in-law
Joan. He was predeceased by brother Bob.
He was a graduate of Kemptville College and farmed for many years
in the Mountain area. He was a trained milk tester and retained
great interest in the farming community.
He was loving a husband of 49 years to Jean McRoberts, whom he
married on July 10, 1954. He was the respected son-in-law of Ada
and the late Bill McRoberts.
He loved and was loved by a large happy family: Barb (John Fraser),
Marj (Brian Keeley), Kate (Rick Glock), Gord (Bonnie Holliday),
Marian (John Elliott), Patti (Carl Hall), Norine (Al St. Denis),
Karen (Phillip Hibbert), and Nancy (Rodney Servage). Grandpa "Poppa"
was adored by 20 grandchildren: Janine (Brad Lunn), Arlene (Hugh
Hunter), Maida and Kent; Cayleigh; Tina, Cassie and Drew; Lindsey,
Andrea and Allyson; Wyatt and Owen; Jodie, Janis and Barrett;
Danika, Kane and Talia; and Carley.
He will be fondly remembered by Allen and Betty McRoberts; Verna
and Ray Dillabough; Doris and Ray Holmes; and many nieces and
nephews of both the Milne and McRoberts clans.
He attended Hallville United Church and was a loyal choir member
of many years.
He was always appreciative of the care he received from the visiting
nurses, doctors and nursing staff at the Ottawa Hospital and WDMH.
His wit and humor made him a pleasure to work with.
Visitation was held at Byers Funeral Home in South Mountain, with
the funeral being conducted by Rev. Blair Paterson at Hallville
United Church on Oct. 6.
Pallbearers were sons-in-law John Fraser, Brian Keeley, John Elliott,
Carl Hall, Al St. Denis, and Rodney Servage. Cremation followed.
Donations will be accepted by the family for WDMH and Hallville
United Church.
