Frederick Ronald Weagant
Fred Weagant, in his 85th year, passed away peacefully, surrounded
by his family in prayer, at the Dundas Manor in Winchester on
Aug. 3, 2003.
He was the beloved husband of Anita (nee Elliott). He was loving
Dad of Barbara (Dave) Black, Bob (Sandra), Laird (Elise) and Janice
(Trevor) de Freitas. He was cherished Papa of Shari Westman; Julie
Baker; Stacey, Wendy, Leslie and Paula Weagant; Christy Griffin;
Scott, Andrea and Tricia Weagant; and Luke and Zachary de Freitas.
He was a dear great-grandfather of Danika Westman; and Cody and
Sabrina Baker.
He was predeceased by brothers Cameron and Bev Weagant. He was
respected uncle of many nieces and nephews.
He was raised on a farm in Colquhoun, near Williamsburg. In 1947
he moved to South Mountain with his wife Anita, where they purchased
a general store. They laid the foundation of Weagant Farm Supplies
in 1953.
His devotion to family and business were inseparable. He took
enormous pride in both. His life's work evolved into one of eastern
Ontario's largest farm equipment dealerships, with stores in South
Mountain, Winchester and Brockville.
He rested at the Byers Funeral Home in South Mountain on Aug.
5, and will be resting on Aug. 6 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The funeral
service will be held at St. James Anglican Church on High Street
in Morrisburg on Aug. 7 at 11 am.
Interment will be at St. Lawrence Valley Union Cemetery. By family
request, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or the
Dundas Manor Activity Fund.
