Bill Whitteker
Bill Whitteker of Williamsburg died on July 7, 2003 at Winchester District Memorial Hospital. He was 79.
He was born in Matilda Township to the late Mahlon Whitteker and Alma (nee Casselman) on Aug. 5, 1923. He was predeceased by wife Audrey Whitteker, whom he married on March 8, 1950 in Williamsburg.
He was primarily a dairy farmer, but also supplemented the family income by working as a milk truck driver. He lived his entire life in the Williamsburg area, except for one year during the Depression when he lived in the west.
He will be remembered by children Carole (Lynn) Graham of Brockville and Muriel (Dale) Whitteker of Williamsburg. He is survived by siblings Marjorie Baker of Inkerman, Betty Barkley of Winchester, Solon of Cornwall, Sheldon (Pierrette) of Picton and Marion (Don) Barkley of Inkerman. He was predeceased by brothers Harry and Donald.
He will be fondly remembered by grandchildren Karen, Steven and David Graham; and Erica and Stefanie Walsh. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
He liked to fish. He and Audrey enjoyed traveling and participated in several bus trips over the years. He was an accomplished knitter who could knit socks, sweaters, slippers, scarves and mitts. He also enjoyed cooking and his specialty was scalloped potatoes. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Williamsburg.
Friends called at Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg on July 9. The funeral was at the funeral home on July 10 with Rev. Joachim Barkley-Probst officiating. Interment was at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville.
Pallbearers were Keith Beckstead, Ralph Barkley, Russel Whitteker, Almon Whitteker, Don Garlough and Kevin Barkley. Donations to Winchester District Memorial Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
