Ella May Whitteker
Ella May Whitteker of RR 2 Brinston died on Dec.
22, 2003 at Winchester District Memorial Hospital. She was 77.
She was born in the former Williamsburg Township on April 9, 1926
to the late Henry Barkley and Effie (nee Gordier). She was a lifetime
resident of the Williamsburg Township area.
She was married to the late Harry Whitteker on October 28, 1948
at St. Peter's Lutheran Church manse in Williamsburg.
She is survived by son Russell (Pat) of RR 2 Brinston; and brother
Garnet (Audrey) Barkley of Williamsburg.
She was predeceased by sisters Agnes Beckstead, Mildred Beckstead,
Viola Noble; and brothers Silas Beckstead, Glen Barkley, Orlin
Barkley, Henry Barkley, and Fred Link.
In her early years, she worked at Woods' Restaurant in Williamsburg
and as a mother's helper. After marrying, she became a wife and
mother who not only completed her domestic duties on a daily basis,
but was very helpful and capable when it came to doing farm chores.
She enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and quilting.
She will be fondly remembered by grandchildren Eric (Angie) Whitteker
of Winnipeg; Douglas Whitteker of Chesterville; and great-grandchildren
Haylee Jade Whitteker-Jensen and Erin Marie Whitteker-Jensen.
She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends called at Marsden and Mclaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg
on Dec. 26. The funeral was at the funeral home on Dec. 27 with
Rev. Mark Ehlebracht officiating. Interment of created remains
will be at Spruce Haven Cemetery in Brinston.
Donations to the Children's Wish Foundation would be appreciated
by the family.
