George Wright
George Wright of Park Drive Villa
in Williamsburg died at Winchester District Memorial Hospital
on Oct. 20, 2003 following a brief illness. He was 94.
He is survived by wife Helen "Peggy" Wright (nee Colquhoun),
whom he married on May 16, 1942 at Helen's family residence in
Colquhoun.
He was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on May 17, 1909, to the
late Marshall Blackman and Clementine (nee Sutton).
He was raised in Cambridge before immigrating to Canada in 1925.
He began working on a farm near Iroquois which was owned by James
Nash. While working on the farm, he met and married Nash's granddaughter
Helen.
After marrying, he and Helen moved to the farm in the settlement
of Colquhoun and took up dairy farming. In 1995 they moved to
the Park Drive Villa where they lived for eight years. He was
a member of the Williamsburg United Church.
He will remembered by son Paul (Bonnie) of Chesterville. He is
survived by siblings Phyllis Baldi of Venice, Florida; Ted (Ann)
Blackman of Kingstown, Rhode Island; and Frances Manian of Waltham,
Massachusetts.
Grandpa George will be fondly remembered by granddaughter Marla
Bouvier, grandson Drew (Connie) Cameron, and great-grandchildren
Nicole, Joshua and Jake. He was brother-in-law of Eleanor Colquhoun
of Port Hope, Grace Colquhoun of Calgary, and Ruth (Irving) Cochrane
of Mississauga. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg
on Oct. 23. The funeral was held at the funeral home on Oct. 24,
with Rev. Sandy Macpherson officiating. Interment was at Maple
Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville.
Pallbearers were Ken Blackman, Gordon Wells, John Colquhoun, Drew
Cameron, Arnie Vilmansen and Mike Ouellette. Honorary pallbearers
were Don Wells and Mark Hart.
