Sadie Brown
Sadie Brown (nee
Pruner) passed away peacefully with her family by her side on
Nov. 10, 2004 at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital. She
was 92.
She was the loving wife of the late William C. "Bill"
Brown. She was the cherished mother of Lillian (Garnet Johnston)
and Anna (Wytze Van Der Veen). She will be sadly missed by 11
grandchildren (and spouses), 17 great-grandchildren and several
great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by sisters Clara (the late Henry Stata) and
Laura (the late George Barclay), and by brother-in-law George
Brown (the late Iris), and sisters-in-law Minnie (the late Clarence
Deeks), Etta (the late Will Alexander), Edith (the late Fred Shaver),
Tena Kerr, Ruth (the late Manley Halladay) and Ida (the late Frank
Cross). She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews, neighbors
and friends. Special thanks to the staff at the Dundas Manor.
In younger days Sadie loved square dancing, playing cards, and
her family. She was always a supportive wife, mother and grandmother.
She came to enjoy the life provided by caregivers at Dundas Manor
and loved to hear and tell a joke with staff. She made fast friends
with her three different roommates and worried over their welfare.
Although an unassuming lady, she will be missed by friends and
family.
She rested at the Winchester Funeral Home in Winchester where
visitation was held on Nov. 12. The funeral service was held
in the chapel of the funeral home on Nov. 13. Burial followed
at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville.
For those wishing, donations to either the Activity Fund of the
Dundas Manor or to the Winchester Baptist Church would be gratefully
acknowledged by the family.
