Lera Margaret Ellis
Lera Margaret Ellis (nee Mellan) passed away in London, Ontario on May 8, 2004. She was 86. She was formerly of Iroquois and Hulbert.
She is survived by children Maxine (Reg), Elaine (Bill), Willa (Corrie), and Donna (Floyd), as well as by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother Lorne Mellan (late Edith) and sister-in-law Freda Mellan. She was predeceased by husband McElroy Ellis, and brothers Harold (Flora) and Howard.
She was born Sept. 26, 1917 in the former Matilda Township to Edith (nee Beggs) and Christopher Mellan. She was a bookkeeper and secretary at Caldwell Linen Mill, and farmed poultry at home. She was a member of the Hulbert Valley United Church.
The funeral was held at Byers Funeral Home Chapel in South Mountain on May 11 with Rev. Yvonne Willis officiating. Interment was at South Mountain Union Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kevin Adams, Jamie Copeman, David McCargar, and Archie, John and Murray Mellan.
