Lois McPherson
A resident of Williamsburg for
the past 27 years, Lois McPherson died at Winchester District
Memorial Hospital on Aug. 28, 2004, at the age of 77.
She was born at Winchester Springs on June 4, 1927, to parents
Earl and Margaret Munro (nee Nesbitt). She grew up on the family
dairy farm in Winchester Springs along with her brother Wilmer.
She attended the local elementary school and then Winchester High
School.
After graduating from high school, she studied to become a nurse
at Kingston General Hospital and graduated as a registered nurse
in 1949. Her classmates remained very dear friends for her entire
life.
After graduation she worked as a registered nurse for many years
in various capacities at several different hospitals. She married
Gerry at Winchester Springs Presbyterian Church on May 24, 1951,
and they began their married life together living in Kingston.
Soon after they were married they were blessed with two children,
Nancy and Paul.
Gerry's career with Massey Ferguson required the McPherson family
to live in several different Ontario locations including Napanee,
Grimsby, Brampton, and Chatham. Their final move occurred in 1977
when they moved back to Gerry's family farm in Williamsburg. After
becoming a resident of Williamsburg, Lois worked at the post office
where she really enjoyed seeing neighbors and friends.
One of her favorite pastimes was her work with the Park Lane Crafters.
Throughout her life, family was the most important to her in everything
she said and did. She always had time for each and every family
member. She was not only a devoted wife, mother and grandmother,
but she was a friend, coach and great listener to all. She always
had a word of encouragement.
She was the loving wife of Gerry for over 53 years. She was loving
mother of Nancy (Clark) Stewardson of Hamilton and Paul (Pat)
McPherson of Lindsay. She will be fondly remembered by grandchildren
Lindy and Kayleen Stewardson; and Stephanie and Mark McPherson.
She was sister-in-law of Marjorie (late Dr. Hugh) McPherson of
Mount Forest. She was dear aunt of Martha Murphy of London and
Janet McGhee of Guelph. She was predeceased by a brother Wilmer
Munro.
Friends called at the Marsden McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg
on Aug. 30. The funeral service was held at the funeral home on
Aug. 31 with Rev. Doug Carnegie officiating. Interment followed
at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville.
Pallbearers were Gordon Garlough, Bruce Garlough, Hugh Garlough
and Mark McPherson. Honorary pallbearers were Lindy and Kayleen
Stewardson, and Stephanie McPherson. Donations to a charity of
choice would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
