Maria Geertruda
Mesman passed away peacefully at the Winchester District Memorial
Hospital, surrounded by family and friends on Nov. 1, 2004. She
was 96.
She was born on April 6, 1908 in Holland. She was the daughter
of the late Alida Loozer and Peter Loogman. She is survived by
nine children, Tiny (and the late Wim) of Holland, Leo (Gertrude)
of Winchester, Martin (Jill) of New Brunswick, Bill (Rejeanne)
of Harrow, Tom (Ardele) of Merrickville, Ben of Williamsburg,
Robert (Marie) of Toronto, Alida MacLachlan (Murray) of Manotick,
and Fred (Roxanne) of New Brunswick. She will also be missed by
numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by all of her 10 siblings, her infant son
Martin, her husband Martin, granddaughter Linda and husband Randy
and their infant son Steven, her son Peter and his wife Mary.
The family immigrated to Canada in 1953 and settled south of Chesterville
in 1957. She loved and prayed for everyone and was always grateful
for everything. Her warmth and gratefulness will always be remembered.
The family received friends at the Chesterville Funeral Home in
Chesterville, on Nov. 5. The funeral service was held at St. Mary's
Catholic Church in Chesterville on Nov. 6. Interment followed
at St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations
to the Winchester District Memorial Hospital, Patient Care and
Nursing Division would be greatly appreciated by the family.
