John Versteeg
John Versteeg of Russell passed away peacefully in hospital on Oct. 22. He was 72.
He was the beloved husband of Beatrice van den Anker. He was the dear father of Ron, Frank, Leo, Carol (Guy Levac), Joanne (Steven Nyentap) and David. He was the dear Opa to Shelley, Jason, Patrick, Marco, Robert and Marie-Josee.
He came to Canada from Holland in 1954. He purchased a farm in North Russell in 1964 and had been farming there since. He was a proud member of Holstein Canada for 39 years, a past-president of the Carleton-Russell Holstein Club and a former director of Eastern Breeders Inc. He was an avid collector of antique ALLIS-CHALMERS tractors.
The funeral service was held on Oct. 26 at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Russell, followed by inurnment at the parish cemetery.
