Dwayne Allen
On Wednesday afternoon, June 1, 2005, Donald Dwayne Allen passed
away unexpectedly at the Royal Ottawa Place in Ottawa, Ontario.
He had resided there for the past year.
Born in the Winchester District Memorial Hospital on August 31,
1956, Dwayne was the second son of Donald Allen and the former
Muriel Murdock. He was 48 years of age. Dwayne was raised on the
Allen Hill, in Mountain Township, Dundas County, and attended
North Mountain Consolidated Public and North Dundas District High
Schools.
In September 1973, at the age of 17, he joined the Canadian Armed
Forces, PPCLI Regiment in Calgary, Alberta, where he remained
for several years. During this time he had the opportunity to
spend time in Australia. Following his discharge, he remained
in the western provinces and followed where his free spirit led
him.
Due to a sudden illness on Easter Sunday in 1994, he returned
to his home area and spent the next 10 years in a Brockville hospital.
For the past year, he had resided at the Royal Ottawa Place in
Ottawa. His sense of humour and disposition helped him through
these years and his needs were met by the caring and compassionate
nursing staff at the two hospitals.
Dwayne is survived by his parents Donald and Muriel Allen; his
two brothers Larry and Kevin (Patricia McLaren), all of Mountain;
his sister Susan (Rick Fisher) of Perth; and four nephews: Michael
and Christopher Allen, and Lucas and Nicholas Fisher.
The funeral service was held in the Rolston Chapel of the Grant
Brown Funeral home in Kemptville on Saturday, June 4, 2005, at
11:00 am and was officiated by Rev. Blair Paterson of Hallville
United Church.
Interment was at Reid's Mills United Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were his brothers Larry and Kevin Allen; and nephews
Michael and Christopher Allen, and Lucas and Nicholas Fisher.
In a quiet country graveyard
Where the gentle breezes blow,
Lies the one we loved so dearly
And lost two weeks ago.
Your memory is our keepsake
With which we'll never part,
God has you in his keeping
We have you in our hearts.
