Freeman Beckstead
Freeman Beckstead of RR3 Chesterville passed away unexpectedly
at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital on Nov. 2, 2005.
He was 82.
He was born on March 7, 1923 in Williamsburg Township to the late
Earl Beckstead and the late Edna Beckstead (nee Kellett). Freeman
was predeceased by his wife Elsie Beckstead (nee Challen), whom
he married in Pilbright, England on April 4, 1945. He was the
father of Carol Irven (Richard Wagner) of RR1 Morrisburg, Dale
(Donna) of RR1 Chesterville, Lois Beckstead of Chesterville, Lorne
(Jeannie) of RR2 Lunenburg and Sue (David) Chambers of RR3 Chesterville.
He was the brother of Kenneth (Betty) Beckstead of Williamsburg.
He was predeceased by a son Doug and a grandson Wayne. Freeman
will be fondly remembered by nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Freeman was a member of the Royal Canadian Armed Forces having
served overseas from 1943 to 1945. He was a member of the Royal
Canadian Legion Branch 434 in Chesterville. He worked as a farmer,
a mailman, and as a laborer at Nestlé. He enjoyed visiting
with friends over a cup of coffee, riding his motorcycle, and
doing woodworking.
There was no visitation at the funeral home. A graveside service
was held at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville on Nov. 7 with
Rev. Isabel Black officiating.
Donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by
the family.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Marsden and McLaughlin
Funeral Home in Williamsburg.
