Ena May Belway
(nee McMillan) of Winchester, passed away at Winchester District
Memorial Hospital on April 16, 2005. She was 97.
She was wife of the late John Colbourne Belway whom she married
in Morrisburg in 1931. She was born on April 28, 1907 in Winchester
Springs to the late William J. McMillan and the late Nora Droppo.
She was the mother of Lorna Merkley (Cleon) of Prescott, June
Knapp of Brockville, Lyle (Eileen) of South Mountain, Shirley
Hamilton (late Ralph) of Winchester Springs, and Barbara Winters
(Keith) of Roebuck. She was grandmother to 18 grandchildren and
several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by siblings Percy,
Blake, Otis, and Luella Holmes.
She was a housewife and farm wife, and lived for the previous
7 years at Dundas Manor.
The funeral was held in the chapel of the Byers Funeral Home in
South Mountain on April 19 with Shirley Nichol officiating. Interment
followed at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville.
Pallbearers were grandsons David, Donald, and Douglas Merkley
and Dwayne Hamilton; and great-grandson Chad Merkley.
