Olive Benton
Olive Benton of Cardinal passed away peacefully at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital on Feb. 15, 2005. She was 93.
She is survived by her husband Vernard Benton whom she married in Cardinal in May 1984. She was born in Sutton on Sept. 2, 1911 to the late Joel Chapelle and the late Agnes Chapelle. She is survived by children Donald Adams and his wife Agnes of Kemptville; Ronald Adams and his wife Marilyn of Griffith; Corinne Kirkwood and her husband Wayne of Winchester Springs; Edwin Adams and his wife Grace of London; and step-daughter Sharon Plume and her husband Harvey of Strathroy.
She is also survived by sister Cora Boadway of Oshawa and brother Joel Chapelle of Jackson's Point. She was predeceased by her husband Melvin Adams and brother Frank Chapelle. She will be sadly missed by 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and by nieces and nephews.
She had lived at her home in Cardinal for the previous 21 years. She was a member of the United Church.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Iroquois on Feb. 16. The funeral was held at the funeral home on Feb. 17 with Rev. Arlyce Schiebout officiating. Interment in the spring at South Gower Cemetery.
