Margaret Elizabeth Blaine
Margaret Elizabeth Blaine (nee
Clark) passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at home on June 27,
2005. She was 76.
Margie was wife, partner, and best friend of Hugh Blaine, and
together they were lifelong North Dundas residents, long-time
dairy farmers, and later real estate brokers. Margie was the daughter
of Harold Clark and Elsie Clark (nee Cliff) and grew up on the
Clark Road with her brother John Clark (predeceased), and her
sisters Jean Gray, and Anne Watson. Margie and Hugh were married
in 1949 in Mountain and raised their family Douglas (Debbie),
Deborah (Daryl Brown), Linda (Wilmer Porteous), Pamela (Allan
Somerville), Ellen (Ron MacNaughton), and John (Liz) on their
farm on the Kerr's Ridge Road. Having sold their farm in 1979,
they moved to Loughlin Ridge and began their second career in
real estate. In 2002, they moved to South Mountain.
Margie enjoyed the company of her 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren
imparting her love of family, friends, and community. Having led
4-H homemaking clubs for many years, Margie was certainly qualified
to pass on her skills to her family. Margie also had a love of
music and shared this love for many years as the organist at the
Knox Presbyterian Church in Mountain.
A private family service, officiated by Rev. Blair Paterson, was
held June 30, 2005 in the Chapel of the Byers Funeral Home in
South Mountain. Pallbearers were Margie's "boys": Douglas,
John, Daryl, Wilmer, Allan, and Ron. Interment at South Gower
Cemetery followed the service. A memorial service officiated by
Rev. Blair Paterson was held July 4, 2005 at the Knox Presbyterian
Church in Mountain.
