John Duncan (Buck)
Cairncross of Inkerman for over 20 years, passed away after a
lengthy illness on Jan. 21, 2005 at the Winchester District Memorial
Hospital. He was 81.
He is survived by wife Florence I. Timmins whom he married on
Oct. 10, 1945 in Inkerman. He was born on Jan. 6, 1924 in Ottawa
to the late James Cairncross and the late Florence Anton. He is
survived by children Judith Ann Butts (Robert) of Victoria, B.C.,
Tina Ellen Cairncross (Edwina) of Green Valley, and John Scott
Cairncross (Mary) of Milton. He is also survived by grandson Christopher
Duncan Cairncross of Toronto.
He was a member of the Winchester Legion where he held many chairs
and duties filled including visits to schools assisting in Nov.
11 ceremonies. He volunteered at the Dundas County Food Bank,
especially helping with Christmas baskets representing the Winchester
Legion. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and became Noble Grand
of Carleton Lodge, Ottawa and he was Grand Prince of Got no Sanctorum
in Ottawa in a branch of the Ancient Mystic Order of Samaritans.
He was a member of Inkerman United Church.
The funeral was held at the Byers Funeral Home chapel on Jan.
24 with Rev. Melany Cassidy-Wise officiating. Cremation with interment
will be at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville in the spring.
