Harriett Olive Cameron
Ollie Cameron (Bassett) passed
away peacefully in her sleep on Thurs., Sept. 1, 2005, at the
Osgoode Township Care Centre. She had celebrated her 90th birthday
on May 15, 2005.
Ollie was born in Ottawa to parents Harry and Eva Bassett (Acres).
Her mother died when Ollie was three years old and she went to
Vernon to be raised by her grandparents George and Clara Acres.
She married Leonard Cameron in 1939 and they spent most of their
married life in Vernon. Leonard passed away in 1971. They had
six children Glenn (Debbie) of N.B., Heather (Winston Bellinger)
of Vernon, Helen (Alf Winton) of Dawson City, Yukon, Leona (Ken
McDonald) of Vernon, Grace (Andy Bouchard) of Mexico, and Ian
of Crysler.
Ollie was the cherished grannie of Greg (Roberta), Kyle, Paula
(Dr. Jeff McAuley), Susan Bellinger, Sarah, Alexandra and Stephen
Winton, and Meaghan Dodds. She was the special great-grannie to
Paul and Gracie McAuley and Nicholas Cameron. She was the sister
of the late Gordon (Lillian), Jack (Joan), and Doug. She was the
much loved sister-in-law of Effie and Gerald Morris (deceased),
Dan Cameron (Joanie), Hugh (Bobbie - deceased), and Alan Cameron
(Betty).
She was very involved in the Presbyterian Church in Vernon, the
W.M.S. and Ladies Aid and the Vernon Women's Institute. She was
a life member of the W.M.S. and W.I. She was a great friend to
many.
Visitation was at the Duncan Funeral Home in Metcalfe on Sept.
5. The funeral was held on Sept. 6 followed by interment at Springhill
Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the Township of Osgoode Care Centre
for the wonderful care our Mom received while she was there for
the past seven years.
