Rosalie Ann Coons
Rosalie Ann Coons
passed away at her Chesterville home on April 23, 2005. She was
36.
She was the daughter of Shirley Acres and the late Frederick S.
Coons. She is survived by her much loved second dad, Bernard Curran,
and his daughters Gail (Richard McMillan) of Chesterville, Susan
(Paul Bongers) of Kars, Cheryl (Rodney Rudiak) of Baker Lake,
and Lynne (James Hume) of Oshawa. She will be sadly missed by
her aunts and uncles: Freeman and Carole Acres of Vernon, Frederick
Acres of Val Caron, Ross and Sharon Saunders of Niagara Falls,
Dorothy McMenomy of Inkerman, Irene Hindley of Guelph, Orval and
Ella Morton of Inverary; and their families, and the family of
the late Fanny Foster of London.
Visitation took place at the Chesterville Funeral Home on April
25. The funeral service conducted by Rev. Brian Kauk and Kathryn
Otley at Holy Trinity Anglican Church on April 26 was centred
on a musical theme in keeping with Rosalies main interest.
The casket was piped into and out of the church by cousin Donald
Stoodley. Organist Dawn Campbell led the congregation in familiar
hymns and was joined by husband Roy in a duet Take up Thy Cross.
Beautiful violin and organ selections were offered by Donald J.
McPhee and Catherine O. Defreitas. Cousin Kaitlyn Deavy played
Amazing Grace on guitar. Readings by cousin Kari Cochrane and
good friend Dierdre Bekkers were from Revelation and Corinthians.
Cousin Cheryl Deavy shared her memories of Rosalie to complete
the service. Rosalie graduated from Chesterville and Maple Ridge
Public Schools and from North Dundas District High School as an
Ontario Scholar. She obtained her B.A. in Political Science and
History at McGill University. After working in the insurance industry
in Toronto, she returned to school at York University and was
working towards her Chartered Accounting Designation at a Cornwall
office when diagnosed with cancer.
Numerous donations were received for the Canadian Breast Cancer
Foundation in her memory. Perhaps more research will soon spare
others from the effects of this dreadful disease.
Other donations were gratefully accepted for the Chesterville
Anglican Church, the Chesterville United Church, and the Winchester
Hospital.
Burial took place at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville with
cousins Rhonda Acres, Helen Saunders, Nancy Acres, Robert McMenomy,
Kevin Acres; and good friend Carolyn Edwards, ably acting as pallbearers.
