Keith Fawcett
Keith Fawcett of
Winchester, formerly of Inkerman, passed away on May 23, 2005,
at Winchester District Memorial Hospital. He was 77. He was born
on July 26, 1927 in Mountain Township to the late W.J. Fawcett
and the late Lola Allison.
He is survived by his wife Marguerite Holmes whom he married in
Winchester on Sept. 4, 1948. He was the father of Diane Crummy
(Bob), Barb Barkley (Ray), Eleanor Anderson (John), Lloyd (Tina),
Elaine DeRooy (Corie), Donald (Linda) and Dwayne (Wilma). He is
survived by grandchildren Wendy (Paul), Shari, Scott (Tracey),
Brent, Matt, Erika, Devon, Chelsey, Dylan, Danielle, Dawson and
Anna and was predeceased by Trevor Barkley. He is also survived
by great-grandchildren Curtis and Adam. He was the uncle of many
nieces and nephews. He was the brother of Freda Coons (Hugh),
Allison (Jean), Roy (Shirley), Ralph (Mary) and was predeceased
by Gordon. He was the brother-in-law of Mary Rawson, Murray (Peggy)
Holmes, Murla (Ron Timmins), Joyce, Doris, Mary, Betty, and Kay
Holmes.
Keith was a self-employed farmer. He was a member of the United
Church. He played hockey with the Inkerman Rockets in their first
year. He was past-president of the Junior Farmers for 10 years;
was a 4H leader at Mountain for 10 years; and was past-chairman
for seven years of the Mountain School Board. He served on Mountain
Township Council in 1972 and was reeve for 17 years. He served
as councillor for six years on North Dundas Council; and was warden
of SD&G in 1987. Keith was on the Cornwall Housing Board for
10 years and at the time of his passing was vice-chairman. Keith
served 25 years in municipal politics.
The funeral was held at Inkerman United Church on May 26, with
Rev. Blair Paterson officiating. Interment followed at Maple Ridge
Cemetery in Chesterville. Pallbearers were Eugene Flichel, John
McIntyre, Roger Cole, Murray Hyndman, Tom Clapp and Tom Allison.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Byers Funeral Home in South
Mountain.
