Edythe Catherine Foley
Edythe Catherine Foley of Dundas Manor passed away on Oct. 20, 2005.
Edythe was born in 1917 to Catherine Murphy (Lynch) and James Murphy of Crysler. She was the wife of the late Bernard Foley, whom she met at a wake in Chesterville and were later married in 1943. They farmed on the Foley homestead, west of Finch, for many years. They had seven children: Elaine (George Ayotte), Kevin (Monique), Noreen (Peter Michels), Ronald, Bernard Francis (Elizabeth), Paul (Susan Johnson) and Marian (Larry James), 12 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Edythe and Bernard were active members of St. Bernard's Parish in Finch until they moved to Chesterville. They enjoyed town life and the company of good neighbors and friends. They became part of St. Mary's Parish and their home in Chesterville became the gathering place for their family on many occasions. After the death of her husband, Edythe lived alone on Armstrong Place where she continued to enjoy the friendship and support of friends.
When the time came, after a short stay in Long Sault Nursing Home, she moved to the Dundas Manor where she lived until her death.
Friends were received at the Chesterville Funeral Home on Oct. 23. A funeral mass was held at St. Mary's Church on Oct. 24. Pallbearers were her grandchildren. She would have been honoured and happy to know that her nephew, Father Terry Foley, officiated at her funeral. Cremation followed the service with the inurnment taking place on Oct. 25 at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Finch where Father Foley officiated.
We know she will be happy to be with her "Bern" again. We pray and hope they will both be together in heaven. The family members are all thankful that Father Terry could be with us as we celebrated our mother's life. We put our trust in our Lord to welcome her into her new life.
We, the family, will always be grateful and thankful to everyone at the Manor who cared for our mother during the last few years of her life. We also want to thank Dr. Adamson for his tender loving care at the Dundas Manor and for many years before that.
Finally, we want to thank Jennifer Nelson, our funeral director, who had been so helpful in planning these last few days with us.
