William Sherman Hanes
William Sherman Hanes passed away at Ladysmith Hospital in Ladysmith, B.C. on Nov. 6, 2005. He was born in Vernon, Ont. on July 9, 1929.
He is survived by his loving wife Anita of 52 years, by his sister Ida Blonski of London, Ont., and his brother Jack (Myrlah) Hanes of Cayuga,Ont. He is also survived by brother-in-law Archie Kovisto, sister-in-law Mae (Paul) Laukkanen, brother-in-law Robert (Julie) West, and by nieces and nephews.
He attended Vernon Public School and Winchester High School. He was a member of the Ontario Provincial Police for 34 years. He had been a member of the Lions Club and Rotary Club and a past member of the Masonic Lodge and Shriner's Club.
A celebration of Bill's life was held on Nov. 19, in Ladysmith, B.C. Cremation has taken place and he will be interred at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville at a later date.
Arrangements were confidently assigned to Telford's Mid-Island Memorial Services.
