Howard Hollister
Howard Hollister,
a resident for the past 2 years of the Dundas Manor Nursing Home
in Winchester, passed away on May 26, 2005. He was 84
He is survived by his brothers Clair of Winchester and Merle (Marion)
of RR2 Ingleside, and by a sister Inez (Wallace) Byers of Winchester.
He was predeceased by sister Eileen Arbuthnot and brother Edward.
He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
He was born to Corrie and Florence Hollister (nee O'Brien) on
Dec. 28, 1920. He grew up along the St. Lawrence in the Seaway
Valley. In 1957 he moved to Winchester to live with his brother
Clair, where he stayed until he moved to the Dundas Manor Nursing
Home.
When Howard was born there were no special education schools and
special needs were not taken seriously. Even though Howard was
handicapped he lived a full and happy life. He was a very loving
and smart person who was loved by all. He was very proud of looking
after himself, and he always had to have his clothes looking just
right. He was always quick with a laugh and he loved to tease
and have fun. He enjoyed going to auction sales and watching hockey
and soap operas on TV.
A graveside service was held at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville
on May 30 with Rev. Brian Kauk officiating. Pallbearers were Cindy
Kerkhof, Mike Kerkhof, Rob Byers and Vicky Hutchinson.
Donations to the Winchester District Memorial Hospital would be
gratefully acknowledged by the family.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Marsden & McLaughlin Funeral
Home in Williamsburg.
