Keith Francis Holmes
Keith Francis Holmes,
a lifelong resident of Winchester, passed away peacefully after
a lengthy illness at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital
on March 8, 2005, with his loving wife Kathleen by his side. He
was 82.
He was the beloved husband of Kathleen E. Holmes (nee Acres) whom
he married in Vernon on January 25, 1947. He was the dear father
of Bryan (Jean), Myrna (John Kilborn), Barry (Cathy), Bruce (Sharon),
and Julie (Terry Green). He was the loving grandfather of Andrew
(Chrystal) Holmes; Andrea (Shawn Allard), Kris Kilborn (Nicole
Chartrand), and Jeff Kilborn; Ryan Holmes, Craig (Monique St.
Pierre), Kristen Holmes and Brent Holmes; Jordan Holmes; Bailey
Lewis, Nicolas Lewis, Nicholas Green and Christopher Green: and
the loving great-grandfather of Sutton, Tristan and Owen Allard.
He was brother of Mary (Eric Rawson), Murray (Peggy), Marguerite
(Keith Fawcett), Murla (Ron Timmins), and the late Tom, Lou, Gerald,
Lloyd and Woodrow. He was brother-in-law of Joyce, Doris, Mary,
Betty and the late Lorne Bell.
He was born on January 13, 1923 to the late Clarence E. Holmes
and Hannah May Merkley. He farmed for 58 years at 12225 Liscumb
Road in Winchester. A World War II veteran, he served as president
of the Milk Marketing Board, was a board member of Winchester
District Memorial Hospital, of Beechcroft Seniors Residence and
of Winchester Legion Branch 108. He was a member of the Winchester
Wesleyan Church.
The funeral service was held at Winchester Wesleyan Church on
March 10 with Rev. Thurland Brown officiating, followed by interment
at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville. Pallbearers were Ryan,
Jordan, and Andrew Holmes; Kristopher and Jeffrey Kilborn; and
Nicolas Lewis
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Duncan Funeral Home, Chapel
and Reception Centre in Metcalfe.
