Kenneth Victor Morrow
Kenneth Victor Morrow, born July 24, 1927, died peacefully on Fri., Nov. 11, 2005 at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital. He was 78.
The former high school teacher had been living in the Hartford Retirement Centre in Morrisburg for the last four years.
He is survived by wife Mabel (nee Marriner) of Morrisburg, whom he married on Nov. 12, 1949 at St. Peter's Church in South Mountain, with Rev. B.G. Adams officiating.
He was a dear father to Ken (Helen) of Inverary, Tom (Karen) of Morrisburg, Laura Morrow (Richard Church) of Victoria, B.C., Bill (Kim) of Morrisburg, Joanne Morrow (Pete McIntosh) of Ottawa, and Patty (Brian) Tinkler of South Mountain. He was a loving grandfather of 13 grandchildren: John (Cindy) Morrow; Jeremy (Allison) Morrow; Steve (Trisha) Morrow; Jennifer Morrow; Ryan, Drew, and Michaela Morrow; all of Morrisburg, as well as: Alissa and Carly Church of Victoria, B.C.; Sam McIntosh of Ottawa; Brooke, Dustin, and Dylan of Winchester Springs; and one great-granddaughter Marin Morrow of Morrisburg. He was the cherished brother of John (Frieda) of Moncton, NB and Mary Killam of Salsbury, NB. He will also be missed by Bonnie Whitteker of Morrisburg.
He was predeceased by his father, Harold Alexander Morrow, his mother, Florence Jane Campbell, one daughter Nancy Morrow (1961), sisters Helen Fairweather, and Marg Horseman.
He was a teacher by profession, but even more than that - he was a teacher by nature. He taught his family about camping, nature, gardening, hard work, and caring for each other. One valuable lesson he imparted was that there was more to life than winning - to see a smile on a younger sibling's face when they crossed the finish line meant so much more. He handed out discipline, but in a loving manner and a manner that would be remembered.
He touched many students' lives - they continued to visit him after completing high school. He had an ability to connect with students on a personal level.
He was a hockey coach to his sons Ken and Tom, and he put many miles on countless vehicles getting the kids to their games. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from May 29, 1946 to May 31, 1951.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Parker Funeral Home in Morrisburg. The funeral service took place on Nov. 16, officiated by Rev. Jean Udall, followed by cremation. Inurnment took place on Nov. 18 at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville.
