Lyle Stewart
William Lyle Neil Stewart, a resident of Morrisburg for the past 40 years, passed away suddenly at home on Oct. 25, 2005. He was 63.
He was born in Williamsburg on Oct. 14, 1942, to the late Wellington Stewart and the late Helen (nee Hunter). He was predeceased by his brother Clifford and his sisters Norma and Marlene. Lyle is survived by his loving wife Faye, whom he married on April 12, 1999 in Las Vegas. He is also survived by his first wife Edith. He leaves behind his children Michael (Tammy) Stewart of RR1 Morrisburg, Tracey (Terry) Veinotte of Morrisburg, and Adam (Janice) Froats of Brinston; his grandchildren Tyler Stewart, Christyn and Cole Veinotte, and by nieces and nephews.
He attended a rural public school and then went to high school in Winchester. He was a member of the high school football team, which he enjoyed very much.
Lyle loved people. He really enjoyed being around people, joking with the girls over at the clinic, and keeping them on their toes. Lyle not only enjoyed life, he knew how to make life enjoyable for others. He liked to visit and older people loved him. He had a great sense of humor and possessed some famous "one-liners." He loved camping, spending time with his buddies at the Legion, listening to country music, and attending country and western jamborees.
Even though he'd been having great difficulty healthwise during the past few months, Lyle kept active to the end. "Hard-working" tops the list of phrases used to best describe Lyle, and that he took pride in his work.
He previously worked for McFarlane Construction of Ottawa, as a grocery manager at Shoppers City East in Ottawa, and for Seaway Chemicals. He also worked as the grocery manager at the Dominion store in Morrisburg for more than 15 years. Lyle and Faye owned the Riverside General Store for about six years before his painting and janitorial business became a full-time occupation. They spent the last few years as superintendents of the Lakeview Apartments.
Friends called at the Marsden & McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg on Oct. 29. The funeral service was held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Riverside Heights on Oct. 28 at 11 am. Pallbearers were Bo Gale, Danny Rice, Garry Black, and Lyndon Casselman. Honorary pallbearers were Allan McCoy and Elwin Woolsey.
Donations to St. John's Lutheran Church or the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
