Flossie Jean Summers
Flossie Jean Summers passed away
at the Dundas Manor Nursing Home on July 31, 2005 after a brief
illness. She was 94.
She was born on Aug. 19, 1910 in Matilda Township to the late
Mason Casselman and the late Nellie Froats. She was predeceased
by her husband George Summers on March 17, 1970, whom she married
in 1928 in Williamsburg.
She is survived by her children Lloyd and his wife Sya of Oshawa,
and Sharon and her husband Roy Hansma of Winchester, her son-in-law
Dick Brenno of Prescott and her daughter-in-law Winnie Summers
of Oshawa. Flossie was predeceased by a son Basil, a daughter
Opal Brenno, a grandson Mark, three brothers and six sisters.
She leaves behind grandchildren Rick, Jeff, John, Stuart, Lisa,
Cory, Vicki, Yvonne, Tammy, Connie, Patricia, Terry, Dean, Shelley,
28 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and many
nieces and nephews.
Flossie resided at Dundas Manor Nursing Home in Winchester. She
was formerly of the Hartford Retirement Centre in Morrisburg,
Park Drive Villa in Williamsburg and of Winchester Springs. She
was a member of the United Church. Flossie was a homemaker. She
loved to read, bake and oil paint in her younger years and being
with her family.
Friends called at the Marsden & McLaughlin Funeral Home in
Williamsburg on Aug. 2 until time of service at the funeral home,
with Rev. Doug Carnegie officiating. Interment followed at Maple
Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville. The pallbearers were Lloyd Summers,
Roy Hansma, Dean Hansma, Guy and Chase Beaudry and Jeff Summers.
