Gabrielle "Gabs" VanEmbden
Gabrielle VanEmbden (nee Hutten) passed away peacefully on July 5, 2005 at the Ottawa General Hospital. She was 68.
She was the dear mother of Hans (Colette) and proud Oma of Ian, Lee and Erik. She was the loving sister of Frouk (Jim Frost), Inge (Nico Engelhart) and Look (Ronald Gumbs). Gabs will be missed by her former husband Egbert, nieces, nephews, many friends and at golf, choir, painting, quilting, TOPS, bowling and at the kids' hockey games.
Friends were received at the Winchester Funeral Home, 505 Church St. on July 10. Funeral service was held in the chapel on July 11. Reverend MaryLou Shortill officiated. Gabs' choir group and her son gave fitting tributes in her memory. The service ended with Frank Sinatra's "I Did It My Way." A luncheon, prepared by the Winchester UCW, followed the service. It was enjoyed by everyone. Gabs' cremated remains will be returned to Holland where she was born.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or to the Winchester District Memorial Hospital.
The family would like to thank Doctor Merrett for all his care over the years.
