Olive Whittaker
Olive Whittaker,
a lifetime resident of the area, passed away at Bayfield Manor
Nursing Home in Kemptville on Sept. 23, 2005. She was 86.
She was born on Nov. 6, 1918 in Winchester Springs to the late
Rufus Casselman and the late Mary Casselman (nee Servage). She
was predeceased by her husband Floyd Whittaker whom she married
on Oct. 1, 1938 in Elma. She was the mother of Lorna (Bruce) Kerr
of Winchester and Dale (Jennifer) of RR1 Williamsburg. She was
the sister of Basil (Marion) Casselman of Winchester Springs and
was predeceased by sisters Jean Morrow, Leila Merkley, and by
brothers Erwin and Bert Casselman. She was the sister-in-law of
Lloyd Merkley of Kemptville and Lois Casselman of Elma. Olive
will be remembered by grandchildren Joanna Helmer, Juli Pilotte,
Edwin Whittaker, Sarah Whittaker and one great-grandson Xander
Pilotte. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Olive enjoyed playing bridge, playing the piano and singing. She
will be fondly remembered by her family and friends for her pleasant
disposition. Olive was a retired school teacher. She was a former
member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church E.L.W. and Williamsburg
Women's Institute.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg
on Sept. 24. The funeral was held at the funeral home on Sept.
25 at 10 am with Rev. Norine Gullons officiating, followed by
interment at Old Union Cemetery in Williamsburg.
The pallbearers were Ben Hall, Paul Pilotte, Chris Helmer, Glenn
Whitteker, Doug Whitteker, Doug Merkley, and Tom Whitteker.
