Dorothy Hatcher
1909 - 2006

Dorothy Edith Hatcher passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital on Aug. 21, 2006. She was 97. She was the daughter of the late Elsie and Maurice Spidell of Halifax, N.S. She was adored by her late husband of 53 years, John Hatcher. She was the cherished mother of Carol Bell and Sandra Smith (Lyle). She was the special Nanny of Lisa Bell, Sonya Smith (Todd), and Shane Bell, and Great-Nanny of Tyla, Jumal, Stephanie, Alexandra, Austin, Alayah, and Olivia. Her sisters Margaret Nash, Ellen Smith, Marion Tizard, Shirley Bouchard and brothers Jack, Bob, and Doug, all of Nova Scotia, and Maurice of California will all feel her loss. She was predeceased by her sister Winnie Hogan and brother Wilbert Spidell.
She was a delightful person. She had a deep passion for life and humanity and her positive outlook was admired by all who knew her.
Friends paid their respects at the Winchester Funeral Home on Aug. 24 until the time of the funeral service at Winchester United Church, followed by interment at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville.
